Playing with your food

the last two slices of apple
can make for some pretty pictures
the straight edges placed face to face
create a red-skinned valentine

a stenciled S if fault lines slipped
flipped side by side they’re two eyebrows
spun, they become a butterfly
yo-yo, then languid angel-wings

at right angles, sailboat and sail
and then when balanced on their arcs
they make two rockers without their horse
the carvings of a man's remorse
